We was extremley lucky to have a talk from the well-respected and highly talented designer and illustrator, Noma Bar. It was a few weeks ago now, but I have only just came to writing about it. This was an inspiring talk for myself and many other students. It was so fascinating to find out about his working methods and an insight into his unique way of thinking.

Noma seemed like a genuine family man, but a very passionate designer. It was inspiring to find out about his up-bringing such as having to join the Navy and job rejections, which I’m sure those agencies are kicking themselves now.

Within one of his books, he showed us drawings he had created at the age of eight. I can safely say at eight years old, Noma was a better drawer than me now.

He told us that he is constantly working and thinking and never switches off. Noma doesn't touch a computer until his sketches are final. This allows his brain to stretch it’s thinking into the weirdest ideas, which are usually the best ones.

It was nice to hear how Noma uses nature and the environment as much of his inspiration. The fact he sits in a nearby forrest is a fantastic idea to disconnect from the world.

A fantastic talk, from a fantastic designer and a really cool guy.
